Sorry but this is not all that can and does happen. I am former US Navy, a destroyer man. And we have taken other actions that I cannot talk about but made it very clear to the other ship that one way or the other, they would be leaving the area. In one situation a ship tried to cut off the carrier literally during flight ops. Our destroyer moved to full power and directly at that ship with a straight up warning. Move or we would move them and not slow down one knot. They moved and left. I will not disclose which country nor where this took place but suffice it to say that was only one situation and probably the only one that I can speak to publicly. When it comes to carriers and fleet operations, we will take whatever action is necessary should the other sides actions be intended to cause situations that could literally kill American sailors. Whether in the sky, on the sea or under the surface, we don't mess around in these situations.

I was on CV63 the West Pac 83/84 as a mess specialist. I was taking a smoke break at the forward galley, two decks above sea level when we hit a Russian sub in the sea of Japan. I got lifted out of my seat. It's quite a story. I recommend googling it. Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier hits Russian sub in the sea of Japan at 22:23 on March 23rd West pac 83/84.
